What happened on June 19, 1865? Why is June 19th now a federal holiday? We invite you to join us as we learn about the history of Juneteenth. We will also spend some time talking about books we have read centering on African-American history. Books that have taught us, inspired us, or touched us in some way. We have many titles here if you’d like to try something new. Just ask us at the front desk. All are welcome to participate and if you’d like to let us know which book you’ll be briefly (5 minutes max!) talking about please email Amy at hancocklibrary@comcast.net and put Juneteenth in the subject line.
