Nellie Mae Education Foundation Awards Grant to NHCJE

NHCJE Receives an Operating Grant From Nellie Mae

December 5, 2022 - The NH Center for Justice and Equity NHCJE is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an operating support grant from the Nellie Mae Education Foundation for $112,000. This support will assist the NHCJE in its efforts to describe and address the obstacles experienced by communities of color and similarly marginalized communities.

The operating grant allows the NHCJE to continue its building phase across all four pillars of its work: Community Building & Organizing; Public Policy; Institutional Capacity Building; and Operating Supports & Intentional Investments. As part of its initial activities, NHCJE plans to engage stakeholders and organizations across New Hampshire, to establish a network of organizations working towards racial justice. NHCJE will also ensure that justice and equity issues are included in discussions at relevant committees, commissions, and similar efforts across the state.

“The NH Center for Justice and Equity is deeply grateful to the Nellie Mae Education Foundation for its commitment to issues of equity and its willingness to support our work towards promoting dialogue and examining real solutions for ensuring that New Hampshire is a place where everyone can belong,” says Anthony Poore, President, and CEO.

“The Nellie Mae Education Foundation values the NH Center for Justice and Equity’s work to lift the voices and experiences of communities of color. As a New England funder that prioritizes racial equity in public education, we believe that this effort is key to building more equitable conditions that support youth to thrive.”, says Delia Arellano-Weddleton, Director of Engagement and Partnerships at the Nellie Mae Education Foundation.
