NHCJE Job Description: Project Director 

NHCJE’s Project Director is a motivated, dynamic professional who is able to work across sectors and with a wide range of partners. The Project Director develops and implements project plans to move NHCJE’s project and organizational goals into action. They work closely with the internal team members while cultivating and managing relationships with stakeholders across the state and region, serving as a key ambassador for NHCJE. They have a passion a commitment to supporting those most often marginalized by public policies and institutional practices.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

The Project Director assists or is responsible for:

  • Developing and managing project plans: This includes identifying, developing action plans, and documenting the necessary activities to allow NHCJE to meet its goals and objectives, including those identified in grants. This includes being in community and understanding how to be responsive to community needs. This also requires reviewing applications and program documents to make decisions pertaining to activities, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and funder policies, requirements, and regulations.

  • Coordinating with partners and stakeholders: This includes tracking partner activity and identifying ways NHCJE can participate, amplify, and supplement activity to contribute to the greater good. This also includes participating in policy forums in different NHCJE sectors of effort to support implementation activities for the NHCJE Policy Platform.

  • Conducting and summarizing research: This includes conducting background research for data briefs, written summaries, presentations, and other materials. This can include primary and secondary data collection and synthesis. This can also include developing, facilitating, and/or presenting at workshops, events, meetings, and/or conferences in support of NCHJE projects and activities.

  • Supporting project reporting: This includes preparing reports and other summaries about project activities, progress, and events for reporting or other communications, for external and internal needs.

  • Assisting in resource development: This includes supporting grant and contract development and participating in other fundraising activities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

The Project Director has:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data interpretation.

  • Ability to translate complex concepts to multiple audiences.

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, public health, economic and community development, social justice, equity, social work, or other applicable area and three years of related experience; or Master’s degree and 1 year of experience; or a combination of education and work/lived experience demonstrating the ability to be successful in this role.

  • Ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure, managing multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently but with a team.

  • An approach that includes a high level of motivation, along with creativity and appreciation for fun.
